Patna: In a major update for teacher recruits and educators in Bihar, Dr S Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, announced that the posting process for teachers selected under the third phase of the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE-3) will be completed in three phases, beginning Sunday. The announcement was made during the 13th episode of the department’s flagship programme Shiksha Ki Baat – Har Saturday.
Posting orders for the first 11 districts will be issued on Sunday, followed by another 11 districts on Monday, and the remaining districts on Tuesday. All new teachers are expected to join their respective schools before May 15 and begin academic duties thereafter.
The department is also set to initiate the process for distance-based transfers of women teachers recruited under TRE-1 and TRE-2 starting next week. Information related to the transfer process will be disseminated through the state’s e-Shiksha Kosh portal.
Dr Siddharth also read out an emotional letter from a TRE-1 teacher that highlighted challenges such as delayed salaries, harassment by officials, and demands for bribes. “I have read this letter many times and fully understood the pain of the teachers,” he said. In response, he announced that no officer or employee (except Group D staff) in education offices will receive their salary until pending salaries of teachers are disbursed. He issued a stern warning against harassment or delays, promising strict action against erring officials.
In an effort to improve transparency and accountability, Dr Siddharth said the Grievance Handling Portal has now been integrated into the e-Shiksha Kosh system, which comprises 11 key components covering areas such as teacher payments, infrastructure complaints, and attendance. “I monitor the portal every morning and evening. Negligence will not be tolerated,” he said.
The department is also digitising the approval process for salary, earned leave, casual leave, and maternity leave. In another initiative, a pilot project for the mid-day meal scheme is underway, with principals being tasked to oversee implementation more actively.
Concluding the session, Dr Siddharth stressed the importance of dialogue with teachers and described the letter as a wake-up call. “It is a big lesson for all of us,” he said, urging officials to take the suggestions seriously and ensure teachers spend maximum time in schools.
