Bihar on High Alert: Leaves Cancelled, Border Security Tightened, Nitish Kumar to Hold Purnia Review on May 10

Patna: In the wake of Operation Sindoor, a targeted military strike by Indian forces on terrorist camps near the border, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed an unprecedented security overhaul across the state’s border districts. The Chief Minister will conduct a high-level review in Purnia on May 10, even as all leaves of administrative, police, disaster management, and health department personnel have been cancelled with immediate effect.

At a security meeting held on Thursday at his official residence, CM Nitish was briefed by Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena and Director General of Police Vinay Kumar on preparedness levels. Officials confirmed that all relevant departments have been placed on high alert and ordered to ensure full readiness in light of potential threats.

CM Nitish instructed authorities to step up patrolling, enhance surveillance on suspicious activities, and tighten security at vital institutions across border districts. “Strict monitoring must be ensured, and any suspicious person or object must be dealt with promptly,” he said.

The Chief Minister also directed district magistrates and superintendents of police to remain vigilant and implement round-the-clock patrols in sensitive areas. “There must be zero tolerance for misinformation,” he added, calling for a clampdown on fake news and social media rumours that could cause panic.

Reassuring the public, CM Nitish said, “There is no need to worry — the government is fully alert. The nation is united in its resolve against terrorism, and we are proud of the Indian Army’s courage. We have full faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.”

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, and Secretary Anupam Kumar were among those present at the meeting.
