Patna: The weather across Bihar, including the state capital, remained unpredictable on Tuesday. While a spell of rain accompanied by thunder brought temporary relief in Patna late Monday night, residents were left reeling from intense humid heat the following day due to a surge in easterly winds.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Patna, 13 districts—including Patna—are unlikely to receive any rainfall in the next 24 hours. These regions are expected to experience sultry weather conditions marked by high humidity levels and soaring temperatures.
However, relief may be on the horizon for 27 other districts. The Met department has predicted isolated heavy rainfall with thunderstorms in parts of north and northeastern Bihar, including Purnia, Katihar, Kishanganj, Araria, Madhepura, Supaul, Saharsa, Khagaria, Begusarai, Sitamarhi, and Madhubani.
A yellow alert has been issued for parts of south-central and south-western Bihar, warning of thunder, lightning, and strong winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 km/h.
Weather officials said these mixed conditions—characterized by humid days in some regions and thunderstorm activity in others—are likely to persist over the next seven days.
Rainfall and Temperature Trends
In the last 24 hours, several areas, including Patna, experienced intermittent rainfall. Notably, Motipur in Muzaffarpur recorded 59 mm of rainfall, the highest in the state during this period.
A dip in maximum temperatures was recorded in 11 districts, including the capital. Patna’s maximum temperature fell by 1.3°C, settling at 37.7°C. However, Dehri remained the hottest spot in the state, recording a high of 42.0°C.
While some regions saw marginal relief, temperatures rose in several other districts, adding to the discomfort for residents already grappling with erratic weather patterns.
Meteorologists advise residents to stay hydrated and take precautions, especially in areas under alert, as the weather continues to shift across the state.
