BN College Hostel Bombing: Student Dies of Head Injury, Tension in Patna Campus

Patna: A student of BN College, Patna, has died after sustaining critical injuries during a violent bombing incident on the college premises, authorities confirmed. Sudhir Pandey, a resident of Bhaluni in Rohtas district, was injured when an explosion caused part of the ceiling to collapse, resulting in a fatal head injury.

The incident occurred amid a clash between two student groups during an ongoing examination session. Eyewitnesses reported a crude bomb exploding in the corridor of the examination building around 1pm, triggering chaos and a stampede among students. Minutes later, another bomb was hurled near the main gate, causing an iron grill to collapse, injuring Sudhir.

He was immediately taken to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) and later moved to Medanta Hospital. Despite efforts by medical staff, his condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday. His maternal uncle confirmed the news.

Following Sudhir’s death, BN College was shut down, and student representatives and university officials reached the hospital. The mood on campus remained tense, with students gathering in protest and demanding accountability. The college administration has informed Patna University, which is expected to issue a formal statement and may take further action.

Patna police, led by Pirbahor station in-charge Abdul Haleem, have launched an investigation into the incident. Preliminary findings suggest the violence stemmed from a heated argument between rival student factions. A case has been registered, and efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
