Patna: The Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) successfully conducted the written examination for recruitment to the post of Prohibition Sub Inspector on Sunday. Held across 105 centres in six districts—Patna, Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Bhagalpur, Darbhanga and Purnia—the exam drew a turnout of 67% from among the 64,690 applicants vying for just 28 vacancies.
The two-hour examination, which began at 10am, was marked by heightened security measures and the use of technology-driven surveillance to ensure fairness and prevent malpractice. According to a press statement issued by the BPSSC, arrangements included CCTV monitoring, biometric verification, videography at entry points, and AI-based systems to detect impersonators and suspicious behaviour.
Despite the overall smooth conduct of the exam, two cases of impersonation were reported. In Gaya, one Sujit Kumar was arrested for attempting to take the exam on behalf of another candidate, Ashish Gaurav. A case has been registered in the local police station. Another fake candidate was caught at a centre in Patna, and legal action is being taken in that case as well.
Officials confirmed that no other untoward incidents were reported from any centre, attributing the peaceful conduct to the vigilance of district administrations and rigorous oversight by the Commission.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to a transparent recruitment process, stating that “extensive arrangements were made to ensure a fair and malpractice-free examination.” Further stages of the selection process are expected to follow in the coming months.
