Patna: A IAS officer from the Bihar cadre has been deputed to the Centre to take up an administrative role in Ministry of Tribal Affairs, officials said.
Pratima S. Kumar Verma, a 2002-batch IAS officer, has been relieved of her state responsibilities to join the National Education Society for Tribal Students (NESTS), which functions under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of India.
Appointment At Joint Secretary Rank
Verma will serve at the level of joint secretary and hold the position of commissioner in the organisation, which oversees key initiatives related to tribal education.
Officials said the role is considered significant within the ministry, given its focus on improving access to quality education for tribal communities across the country.
Focus On Policy And Implementation
In her new assignment, Verma is expected to work on policy formulation and implementation related to tribal education and development.
Her experience in administration is likely to contribute to the execution of central schemes and programmes aimed at strengthening educational infrastructure and outcomes.
Formal Orders Issued
The deputation was approved by the state government, with formal orders issued by the General Administration Department, Bihar.
Officials confirmed that she has been formally relieved of her duties in Bihar and will now assume her responsibilities at the national level.
