Katihar: Shweta Mishra, a public grievance redressal officer posted in Manihari, Katihar, is facing serious allegations of corruption after the Special Vigilance Unit (SVU) launched simultaneous raids on her properties in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
Shweta, who has held the post since 2011, is accused of possessing assets worth Rs 80,11,659 — reportedly 84.34% more than her legitimate income. Acting on a court-issued search warrant, SVU teams conducted raids at her government office in Katihar, her rented residence near the Circuit House in Michabari, a flat in Shastri Nagar’s AG Colony in Patna, and a house in Prayagraj Sadar, Uttar Pradesh.
According to officials, Shweta was found at her Prayagraj property when the raid was carried out. The investigation was launched after the state government received credible information suggesting that Mishra had accumulated wealth through illegal means. A formal FIR has been filed, and SVU has initiated proceedings under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The case adds to a growing list of corruption probes in Bihar. Recently, Patna-based drug inspector Jitendra Kumar was dismissed after Rs 4 crore in cash and documents related to 27 properties were recovered from his residence during a 2022 raid.
The SVU’s intensified crackdown reflects the state’s renewed effort to root out public sector corruption and enforce financial accountability among government employees.
