Patna: The Patna Municipal Corporation has started a major repair drive after finding 3,200 faulty street lights across the city. The damaged lights were identified during a recent survey done in all 75 municipal wards. With the monsoon season approaching, the Corporation wants to ensure that all roads and streets have proper lighting.
According to officials, Patna has a total of 83,000 street lights. The survey, carried out on the instructions of the Municipal Commissioner, showed that many lights were not working. Nineteen zonal officers were given the task of checking the lights in their areas.
Now, the repair work has already begun. The Municipal Commissioner has asked the electricity department to complete all repairs within 10 days. He also said that regular checks and maintenance will be done in the future to avoid this problem from repeating.
Executive Engineer Bablu Gupta said that special teams have been made for each zone. These teams will work closely with private agencies to speed up the work. The goal is to make sure all streets are well-lit and safe for the public before the rains begin.
