Motihari: A passenger bus overturned near Jihuli village in Bihar’s Motihari district, leaving several injured. The vehicle, operated by Baba Barfani Transport Company, was en route from Motihari to Sitamarhi when it lost control and overturned along the roadside in the Patahi police station area.
According to early reports, around 30 to 35 passengers were travelling in the bus at the time of the incident. Local residents were the first to respond, smashing windows to free those trapped inside. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals using private vehicles and ambulances.
Preliminary findings suggest a mechanical failure, specifically a steering malfunction, led to the crash. Police from the Patahi station arrived promptly to manage the situation and assist with rescue efforts, which continued with support from villagers.
“The steering of the bus is suspected to have failed. A technical team will confirm the exact cause after a detailed investigation,” a police official at the scene said.
