Bihar’s 81,000 Government Schools to Receive Tablets in Statewide Digital Push

The Bihar government will distribute over 81,000 tablets to government primary, middle, secondary, and higher secondary schools across the state to promote digital education, with teacher training and district-level monitoring planned for smooth implementation.

Patna: In a major step towards digitising classrooms, the Bihar government has announced that all 81,000 government-run schools in the state will soon receive tablet devices. The initiative will equip every primary and middle school with two tablets, while secondary and higher secondary institutions will receive two to three tablets depending on student enrolment.

The directive was issued by Mayank Warwade, Director of the Bihar Education Project Council, to all District Education Officers and District Programme Officers. According to the plan, the tablets will first be delivered to the district level, where detailed records will be maintained. From there, block-level distribution will be carried out through Block Education Offices or Block Resource Centres, with allocations based on the number of schools in each area.

Each phase of the distribution will be documented, with delivery challans submitted to the state office to ensure transparency and accountability. Once the devices reach individual schools, headteachers and staff will be trained in how to effectively use the technology in classrooms.

The scheme is part of a broader effort to integrate digital learning tools across Bihar’s public education system and bridge the digital divide in rural and under-resourced areas.
