Darbhanga: A family in the district was subjected to a violent robbery in the early hours of Sunday when a group of armed men stormed their home, assaulted women in the household, and made off with jewellery and cash.

The incident took place around 1.10am in Belhi village, under Chotaipatti Panchayat in the Sadar police station area. According to police, a group of 10 to 15 unidentified assailants forced their way into the residence of Mohd Tufail Ahmed by breaking down the gate.

“They grabbed my daughter by the neck and started beating her,” Ahmed told reporters. “They held my grandson hostage and threatened to kill him if the women didn’t hand over their jewellery.”
The robbers looted gold and ornaments valued at approximately Rs 10 lakh, along with Rs 8,500 in cash. Ahmed said the intruders ransacked each room before escaping with valuables belonging to his wife, daughter, and daughter-in-law. An additional Rs 7,000 kept in a bag and Rs 1,500 in his own possession were also taken, he added.
