Bhagalpur: Two teenage boys are feared to have drowned in the Kosi river near Bhrampur village in Bhagalpur district, Bihar, after their clothes, bicycle and slippers were recovered from the riverbank. The boys have been missing since Sunday morning, with rescue operations continuing into Monday.

The missing teenagers have been identified as Dilkhush Kumar, 14, a resident of Bhrampur, and Rahul Kumar, 15, from Maheshkhoot. According to family members, the pair left home around 11am on Sunday but failed to return. After hours of searching on their own, the families filed a missing persons report with Bhawanipur police.

On Monday, relatives discovered the boys’ bicycle, slippers and clothes on the bank of the Kosi river and alerted authorities. Police have since launched a search operation with assistance from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), though no trace of the boys has yet been found.

Mahesh Kumar, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bhawanipur police station, confirmed the recovery of the belongings. “A missing person report has been filed. The search for the youth is on. Today, the clothes and bicycle have been recovered. Search was also done with the help of NDRF but no clue could be found. We will recover the youth soon,” he said.

The incident has sparked concern in the local community. Several villagers questioned the theory that the boys may have gone swimming, pointing out that the stretch of riverbank where the belongings were found is not commonly used for bathing. “If they had to take a dip, they would have gone to the Nanhkar Ganga ghat nearby,” a local resident said.
