ACS S. Siddharth Confirms Teacher Transfers in Bihar Will Continue

Patna: The Bihar government has confirmed that the ongoing transfer of schoolteachers across the state will not be halted, despite speculation and concerns circulating on social media.

Speaking during the Education Department’s weekly programme Shiksha Ki Baat on Saturday, Additional Chief Secretary S. Siddharth stated that the transfer process is a “regular and transparent” administrative exercise. “There is no question of stopping it,” he said, urging teachers not to panic or fall prey to misinformation.

According to Siddharth, around 80,000 teachers have already been transferred across Bihar as part of the initiative, which aims to balance staffing levels between districts. The transfers include all teachers from classes 1 to 6, with new school postings allocated. Only 34 teachers have not yet received new assignments due to technical issues, which the department says are being addressed.

He also noted that the majority of transferred teachers have already joined their new schools, and those who haven’t will be reviewed. However, Siddharth assured that no coercive action will be taken to force anyone to join immediately.

Transfers are being implemented from districts with an excess of teaching staff to those facing shortages. Male teachers will also be included in the reallocation.

Reiterating the department’s stance, Siddharth said the process will continue in a phased and fair manner. “There will be no discrimination,” he added, encouraging teachers to cooperate and disregard baseless rumours.
