Patna: Patna Women’s College (Autonomous), Patna University, celebrated the 80th Independence Day on August 15 with a series of programmes highlighting patriotism, national unity and responsibility towards the country.
The celebrations began with the hoisting of the national flag by college principal Dr Sister M. Tanisha A.C., in the presence of Dr Sister Reema A.C., Provincial Superior, Apostolic Carmel, Northern Province; Dr Sister Celine Crasta A.C., Vice Principal, Patna Women’s College; and Dr Sister Jincy A.C., Superior, Avila Convent.
Address On Freedom And Responsibility
Following the flag hoisting, Dr Sister M. Tanisha A.C. addressed the gathering and paid tribute to the sacrifices of India’s freedom fighters.
She also reminded students of their responsibility towards the nation and the values associated with freedom.
Faculty members, hostel students, college students and members of the Student Council participated in the celebrations.
Patriotic Performances And March-Past
Hostel students presented a patriotic song during the programme, followed by a march-past. The activities highlighted discipline, unity and national spirit among the participating students.
Students also presented a “Thought of the Day” focusing on freedom, responsibility, unity and service to the nation.
The college community joined the celebrations as the programme continued with patriotic activities on the campus.
Celebrations Conclude With Distribution Of Sweets
The programme concluded with the distribution of jalebis and chocolates among students.
The college said the Independence Day celebration served as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the freedom struggle and the responsibilities associated with preserving the values of freedom and national unity.
