‘Har Har Mahadev’ Chants Fill Bihar Temples on First Monday of Sawan

Devotees stood in long queues at temples across Bihar to worship Lord Shiva on the first Monday of Sawan

Patna: Temples across Bihar were crowded on Monday as devotees gathered to worship Lord Shiva on the first Monday of Sawan. People started reaching temples early in the morning with pots of water, milk, and flowers to offer on the Shivling. Everywhere, the air was filled with chants of ‘Har Har Mahadev’ and ‘Bam Bam Bhole’.

This Monday was considered even more special because it was also Gajanan Sankashti Chaturthi, a day dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Priests said that fasting and praying on this day brings peace and happiness in families. Many women and men were seen observing fasts and praying for their children’s good health and success.

Long queues were seen outside famous temples in Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur, and Muzaffarpur. Devotees stood patiently waiting for their turn to perform Jalabhishek on the Shivling. Markets near temples remained busy with people buying belpatra, flowers, incense sticks, and other puja items.

Police and temple management made special arrangements to control the crowd and ensure safety. For Shiva devotees, the month of Sawan is very holy, and many plan to visit temples every Monday throughout the month. Monday’s devotion showed how strong people’s faith remains in their traditions and gods.
