Patna: Rural infrastructure in Bihar has received a significant boost with the construction of over 4,820 km of roads under a state scheme supported by NABARD. According to figures released by the Rural Works Department, 1,853 out of 2,023 approved roads have been completed across the state.
Nalanda district has emerged as the top performer, constructing 370.71 km of roads, followed by Gaya with 365.78 km and Patna with 328.21 km. The data highlights substantial progress in several other districts, including Aurangabad (244.86 km), Darbhanga (235.39 km), and East Champaran (230.77 km).
Construction work is nearing completion in Gopalganj, Kishanganj, and Nawada, the department confirmed. The performance is part of a broader push to improve rural connectivity, with district-wise progress tracked and regularly assessed.
Rural Works Minister Ashok Choudhary hailed the achievement as a “milestone in Bihar’s developmental journey,” crediting the timely execution of projects to the state government’s effective policy implementation. “This is an inspirational step towards building strong rural infrastructure and ensuring inclusive development,” he said.
