Patna: A serious road accident took place on Wednesday morning in Ramji Chak, under Digha police station area of Patna. A speeding pickup vehicle hit an auto-rickshaw, killing one person on the spot and leaving three others badly injured. The injured were taken to PMCH hospital, where their condition remains critical.
After the accident, angry locals gathered at the spot and blocked the Digha-Ramji Chak road. They demanded compensation for the victims and strict action against the driver. The protest caused major traffic problems, with long queues of vehicles stuck on both sides.
To control the situation, police from Digha police station reached the area and tried to calm the crowd. However, the protest turned more intense when people set tires on fire in the middle of the road. Photos from the scene showed thick smoke and flames blocking the road completely.
Police are investigating the accident. According to early reports, the crash happened due to the high speed of the pickup. Locals are now demanding better traffic rules and stricter checks to prevent such accidents in the future.
