Patna: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced a significant change for the academic session 2025-26 by creating separate zones for Bihar and Jharkhand. Starting with the 2026 board examinations, Bihar and Jharkhand will no longer be part of the same Patna Zone. This move is expected to streamline administrative processes and provide greater convenience for students, parents, and schools in both states.
Previously, the Patna zone included 1,330 schools from Bihar and 690 schools from Jharkhand. With the new change, Jharkhand will have its own dedicated regional office. This means that administrative tasks such as school affiliation, examination management, and policy implementation will now be handled locally within Jharkhand, eliminating the need for students and parents to travel to Patna for such matters.
The primary objective of this new arrangement is to improve efficiency and transparency. By separating the two states, CBSE will be able to manage administrative tasks more quickly. Additionally, the move will allow for separate passing percentages and results for each state, which will provide a more accurate measure of school performance and student progress. This will save students and parents from Jharkhand considerable time and effort.
