Patna: Bihar’s deputy chief minister, Vijay Kumar Sinha, has said he will respond “respectfully” and “transparently” to a notice issued by the Election Commission over allegations that he holds two voter ID cards.
Speaking to reporters on Monday, Sinha emphasised his trust in constitutional institutions, saying: “I am not going to beat the drum like people such as Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav. I have full faith in the Constitution. The institution is working in a transparent manner and everyone should respect it.”
The Bharatiya Janata Party leader accused opposition parties of “doing complete drama” through their political marches. “They are making fun of democracy and engaged in robbery to establish family rule,” he alleged. “Earlier they used to steal votes from the booth and get fake voting done. But now this ‘jinn’ of theirs is ending.”
Later in the day, Sinha joined governor Arif Mohammad Khan, chief minister Nitish Kumar, assembly speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, and fellow deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary at a state function at the Sapt Murti complex of the Bihar Assembly to pay tribute to martyrs.
