Madhubani: Police in Bihar are investigating allegations that a village priest in Madhubani district sexually abused a minor girl over a period of three months.
The incident took place in a village under the jurisdiction of Dhanaha police station, where the accused, who is reportedly the girl’s neighbour, served as the priest at the local temple. According to a written complaint lodged by the girl’s father, the priest lured the minor to the temple and engaged in sexual activity with her repeatedly.
The abuse allegedly came to light after the priest gave the girl a mobile phone and began speaking to her regularly. When questioned by her family, the girl claimed the priest had been calling her to the temple for three months and had spoken of taking her away.
Police said the accused fled the village after the matter surfaced. Station house officer Mahendra Kumar confirmed that the complaint had been received and that an investigation was under way. “An FIR will be registered and strict action will be taken,” he said.
