Sasaram: Indian fast bowler Akashdeep received a grand reception in his native village of Baddi, Sasaram, following his outstanding performance on India’s recent cricket tour of England. Hundreds of sports enthusiasts and locals gathered to welcome the cricketer as he arrived from Varanasi, turning the occasion into a festive celebration across the area.
Akashdeep, who took an impressive 10 wickets during the England series, played a pivotal role in India’s strong showing. The 25-year-old expressed pride in representing his country and gratitude for the warm welcome from his community.
A resident of Baddi village in Shivsagar, Akashdeep spent his childhood there before moving to West Bengal to pursue cricket professionally. His rise through domestic circuits and the IPL led to his place in India’s Test and ODI squads, where he has consistently impressed.
Local authorities and cricket bodies arranged a special reception to honour Akashdeep’s achievements, hoping his success will inspire young athletes in the region. “Playing for the country is my biggest dream,” he said. “I am thankful to my villagers for their respect and love.”
