Patna: Today, chaos unfolded in Sasaram as preparations for Rahul Gandhi’s arrival fell far short of expectations. A temporary helipad at SP Jain College ground had to be built under the glare of motorbike headlights after no generator or lighting arrangements were made available.
The helipad, meant for Rahul’s helicopter landing as part of the opposition’s Voter Rights Yatra in Bihar, was constructed hurriedly on Saturday night. Videos of workers using bike lights to complete the work circulated widely on social media, raising questions about event management and preparedness.
The Voter Rights Yatra is set to cover 25 districts in 16 days, with Gandhi travelling alongside Tejashwi Prasad Yadav. Leaders from the Congress, RJD, CPIML, and other alliance partners are expected to join the campaign, which will combine roadshows, public meetings, and short stretches of padyatras.
The journey will begin with a public meeting at Sasaram’s Suara airport, with senior leaders including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, and other INDIA bloc representatives in attendance. Rahul is expected to travel in a customised vehicle, also used during the Bharat Jodo Yatra, while a dedicated media van will accompany the convoy.
