Patna: Work on Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science City, being developed on 20.5 acres near Moin-ul-Haq Stadium, is moving into its final phase with exhibits in the first gallery now fully installed. The inaugural gallery, titled Be a Scientist, is ready for opening, while the second Basic Science Gallery is expected to be completed within a week.
The ambitious project, overseen by the Building Construction Department, will ultimately feature five themed galleries: Be a Scientist, Basic Science, Sustainable Planet, Space and Astronomy, and Body and Mind. Together they will cover 7,725 square metres and house 269 exhibits across 26 themes, with 47 exhibits being installed in the first phase.
Among the interactive attractions already set up in the Be a Scientist Gallery are Harmonic Strings, a 3D Zoetrope, Ripple Tank and Standing Waves. The Basic Science Gallery will focus on modern concepts such as the Decimal System, Binary System, Golden Ratio, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Data Analysis. Exhibit installation is being carried out by the National Council of Science Museums in collaboration with Creative Museum Designers.
Officials have stressed the importance of timely delivery and quality. During a recent inspection, Building Construction Department secretary Kumar Ravi directed teams to accelerate installation and finish related works, including campus cleanliness and visitor facilities.
The Science City campus will also include a 500-seat state-of-the-art auditorium, a dormitory for 150 students and 3 teachers, a cafeteria, parking, drinking water and toilets. Additional features will comprise a 4D theatre, multipurpose hall and pre-functional hall.
Special design attention is being given to the central atrium, with selfie points, digital panels and murals planned to enhance the visitor experience.
