Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar has announced a big plan to change the face of sports in Bihar. The state government will build outdoor stadiums in 534 blocks and sports clubs in more than 8,000 gram panchayats. The idea is to give young players from villages a chance to train and prepare for national and even international competitions.
So far, stadiums have been completed in 257 blocks, while work is going on in 46 more. Construction in 29 blocks will begin soon. Each stadium will have facilities for athletics, football, kabaddi, volleyball and hockey. Trainers will also be appointed so that players can get proper guidance and professional coaching at the local level.
Along with stadiums, the government is also focusing on building sports clubs. Out of 8,053 gram panchayats, 7,467 already have clubs, and most nagar panchayats are also covered. These clubs will bring together young people between 14 and 45 years, give them training, and encourage them to think about sports as a career.
Nitish Kumar believes that real talent comes from the villages, and this plan will help Bihar’s youth shine at higher levels. The government hopes that with better facilities, players from the state will win medals for Bihar and India, and a new era of sports will begin in every corner of the state.
