Patna: Bihar Education Department has released over Rs 139 crore to clear August salaries of teachers and staff across state universities and affiliated colleges.
The funds will cover teachers and employees working on duly sanctioned posts in universities, subordinate affiliated colleges, and minority and deficit-grant institutions.
According to official figures, Patliputra University received the highest allocation at Rs 20.85 crore, followed by BRA Bihar University with Rs 19.75 crore and Lalit Narayan Mithila University with Rs 18.37 crore. Other allocations include Rs 14.67 crore for Magadh University, Rs 13.53 crore for Jai Prakash University, Rs 11.42 crore for Tilka Manjhi University, and Rs 10.58 crore for Patna University.
Smaller allocations went to Veer Kunwar Singh University (Rs 7.31 crore), BN Mandal University (Rs 7.58 crore), KSDS University (Rs 5.26 crore), Purnia University (Rs 5.23 crore), and Munger University (Rs 4.39 crore). Maulana Mazharul Haq Arabic and Persian University received the lowest at Rs 69 lakh.
The department stated that timely release of funds was aimed at ensuring regular salary disbursement and avoiding delays that have previously led to unrest among teaching and non-teaching staff.
