Patna: More than 2,800 striking contract workers returned to duty on Friday as Bihar’s Revenue and Land Reforms Department warned that services would be terminated if they failed to rejoin by September 30.
The department said no action would be taken against workers who resumed duties before Saturday evening, but beyond the deadline their contracts would be ended.
Officials claimed that despite the strike, the Revenue Maha Abhiyan has seen strong participation from farmers, with nearly two lakh applications submitted across the state. The highest came from Araria with 21,849, followed by Aurangabad (16,216), Patna (10,947), Gaya (10,082) and Khagaria (9,251). Most applications related to corrections in online jamabandi records, digitisation of offline jamabandi, partition transfers and inheritance transfers.
According to departmental data, 55% of the 3.6 crore jamabandi registers have so far been distributed to farmers. Sitamarhi leads with 89.99% distribution, followed by Vaishali (86.19%), Jehanabad (83.38%), Gopalganj (81.16%) and Sheikhpura (80.73%).
