Patna: Two youths from Bihar have launched what they describe as India’s first swadeshi super app, aiming to challenge foreign tech dominance while boosting local businesses and job opportunities.
Avinash Pandey from Buxar and Awadhesh Kumar from Samastipur unveiled the ‘Blue Era’ app in New Delhi on August 15. The platform combines features of social media, maps, chat and business listings, offering everything from a paan shop to a large showroom in one digital space.
The creators said the app was designed to make India digitally self-reliant, with no foreign investment involved. They emphasised that users will be able to search and apply for nearby jobs directly through the platform, without commission or intermediaries.
Awadhesh described Blue Era as a “milestone in India’s economy”, while Avinash criticised foreign platforms for exploiting Indian data and distracting young people with promises of content creation. He said the app’s aim was to provide secure data storage, expand opportunities for self-employment and strengthen India’s local markets.
The app, built entirely with Indian technology, also offers a delete option in its chat feature, something the founders say ensures greater user control. Its launch is being seen as a step towards countering foreign influence on India’s digital economy and empowering small businesses across the country.
