Begusarai: Bihar has witnessed a surge in political tension following controversial remarks made by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi about Prime Minister Narendra Modi during an event in Darbhanga. The comments angered BJP workers, who have been protesting in multiple cities, from Begusarai to Lucknow, demanding that Congress leaders be held accountable. The situation reflects the growing political divide in the state, where emotions are running high and public demonstrations are becoming a frequent feature.
In Begusarai, BJP leaders entered a local Congress office to protest against Rahul Gandhi’s comments. The demonstration involved shouting slogans and creating a visible display of anger. At the same time, in Patna, several senior BJP leaders, including MPs and MLAs, staged a silent protest at Gandhi Nagar. They sat in dharna, showing their disapproval through a calm but firm demonstration. This combination of vocal and silent protests has highlighted the intensity of political rivalry in the region.
The protests have also spread to Lucknow, where BJP workers marched from the VVIP guest house to the Congress headquarters. They raised slogans denouncing Rahul Gandhi, demanding accountability for his remarks. In Patna, large posters have been displayed at several locations targeting Rahul Gandhi and Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav. These posters accused them of insulting both Prime Minister Modi and his mother, further adding to the anger among BJP supporters and intensifying the public debate.
Legal proceedings have begun as a result of the controversy. A formal complaint has been filed in a court in Muzaffarpur against Rahul Gandhi, Tejashwi Yadav, and hundreds of Congress-RJD workers. The hearing is scheduled for September 11, which could further inflame political tensions in Bihar. The events show how political disagreements in India can quickly escalate into large-scale protests, legal actions, and heightened public attention, reflecting the highly charged nature of contemporary Indian politics.
