Muzaffarpur: The District Education Officer (DEO) of Muzaffarpur has taken strict steps to make sure that government teachers in the district receive their salaries and other benefits on time. A review of salary payments and related reports revealed that delays have occurred in processing salaries, leave periods, and retirement benefits. With more than 27,000 teachers working in the district, timely payment of their dues is crucial to avoid inconvenience and financial difficulties.
The DEO has instructed all officials and staff to submit all salary-related reports by the 25th of every month. This includes the Principals of schools, Block Education Officers, Data Entry Operators, Accounts Assistants, District Program Officers, and clerks in the Establishment Division. The DEO also warned that strict action will be taken against anyone found delaying the process, making all concerned fully responsible for timely payment.
Special attention has been given to the preparation of salaries for Assistant Teachers, Graduate Teachers, Headmasters, School Teachers, and Special Teachers under the old pay scale. Principals of identified middle schools are now required to prepare and submit salary reports to the District Program Officer by the 25th of each month. Any delay in payment will lead to strict action against the responsible Principal, holding them accountable for their school’s payroll.
The DEO also emphasised that the pension and other dues of retired teachers must be paid on time. If delays lead to complaints at the Human Rights Commission, Lokayukta, or High Court, the Principal of the concerned school will be held fully responsible, and legal action will be taken. These measures aim to ensure that all teachers and retired employees receive their salaries and benefits promptly, removing long-standing delays and improving accountability in the district’s education system.
