Patna: A five-year-old boy, Prithvi Kumar, was injured when a bullet discharged from a loaded pistol he was playing with at his home in the Parsa Bazar area of Patna. The bullet struck him in the jaw, and he was immediately admitted to a private nursing home before being referred to a hospital in the city for further treatment.
According to local reports, the weapon belonged to the family of Dharmendra Bind, whose son accidentally triggered the pistol while playing. The police arrived at the scene after being informed of the incident. Sadar DSP Ranjan Kumar confirmed that the weapon could not be recovered during a search of the house, raising concerns about the presence of an illegal firearm.
The incident has sparked questions about safety and negligence, with neighbours and local residents blaming the family for leaving a loaded gun within reach of a young child. The child’s mother stated she had no knowledge of the weapon. Authorities continue to investigate how the illegal firearm ended up in the home.
