Patna: Today marks the final day for citizens in Bihar to add, delete, or correct their names in the voter list under the state’s ongoing Special Summary Revision (SIR) campaign ahead of the 2025 assembly elections. Following the close of submissions, a district-level team will scrutinise all applications, claims, and objections in accordance with prescribed rules and evidence.
The campaign has seen significant public participation, particularly among young voters registering for the first time. Interestingly, applications from opposition parties have largely focused on the removal of names from the electoral rolls.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) led the political applications, submitting a total of 118 requests – 15 for adding names and 103 for deletions. By contrast, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) submitted ten applications, all seeking to add voters’ names. No other parties have filed applications so far.
At the state level, officials received 33,326 applications for adding names and 2,07,565 for removal. Meanwhile, 15,32,428 new voters aged 18 and above have registered using Form-6.
The District Magistrate has instructed all officers to ensure the process is conducted transparently, participatively, and within the set timeframe. The final voter list will be published on September 30. Citizens seeking election-related information can contact the Voter Helpline at 1950.
