Patna: A total lunar eclipse will be visible across Bihar on Saturday night, coinciding with Bhadrapada Shukla Purnima. According to astrologers, the eclipse will occur in Shatabhisha Nakshatra and Aquarius, and those born under this nakshatra or zodiac are traditionally advised not to view it.
Astrologer Rakesh Jha said the eclipse will begin at 9.57pm and end at 1.27am, with the Sutak period — a time of ritual observances — starting nine hours earlier. He advised against cooking, eating, beginning new tasks, or touching idols during this time. Pregnant women, he added, are cautioned against using sharp objects such as knives and blades.
Jha recommended placing kush grass in food and drinks before the eclipse to ward off negative effects, and avoiding viewing the event with the naked eye. He also noted that the period is considered auspicious for chanting mantras, such as the Gayatri Mantra or Hanuman Chalisa, and for making charitable donations.
Following the eclipse, rituals such as bathing with Gangajal and sprinkling it throughout the home are believed to bring prosperity and good fortune.
