Patna: On August 28 a robbery took place at the office of Ramnarayan Prasad near Gulzarbagh station turn in the Alamganj area of Patna, where 21 lakh rupees and 250 grams of gold were stolen. Patna police confirmed that three suspects have been arrested in connection with the case.
Recovered items include a bike, cutter, e-rickshaw, helmet, pillowcase, and cash of Rs 8,46,800. Eastern SP Parichay Kumar said the three arrested suspects were living on rent in the Agamkuan area. A fourth suspect, Vikas, who is related to one of the arrested men, remains at large, and raids are ongoing to apprehend him.
The suspects reportedly cut the office lock and stole the cash and jewellery by stuffing it into a pillowcase. All four were engaged in theft, often targeting closed offices and homes after prior surveillance.
Following the robbery, the stolen money was partially distributed. Rs 4,93,000 was used to book a Hyundai car in Kolkata, about Rs 8 lakh was deposited in an Utkarsh Bank account, and Rs 5 lakh was transferred to one suspect’s sister’s account. Police said silver jewellery was also recovered.
The Income Tax Department has been informed due to the high value of the stolen amount, to verify if any tax evasion occurred.
