Bhagalpur: Residents of Bhagalpur in Bihar are set to receive a boost in rail connectivity, with the Railway Board confirming that a new Rajdhani Express will soon run through the city. This will be the second Rajdhani and third VVIP train to serve the route, following the launch of the Tejas Rajdhani.
The service, connecting Sairang in Mizoram with Anand Vihar Terminal in Delhi, will pass through key stations including New Jalpaiguri, Malda Town, Sahibganj, Bhagalpur, Jamalpur, Kiul, Patna, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Junction and Kanpur Central.
According to the proposed schedule, train number 20507 will depart Sairang every Friday at 4.30pm, reaching Anand Vihar on Sunday at 10.10am. The return service, train number 20508, will leave Anand Vihar at 7.50pm on Sundays and arrive in Sairang on Tuesday at 3.15pm. The journey will cover 2,510km in 42 hours and 20 minutes.
A final timetable, including stoppages at stations such as Bhagalpur, is expected to be announced soon. Sources suggest that prime minister Narendra Modi may flag off the new service, with preparations already under way for the inauguration.
