Gayaji: Delhi MP Bansuri Swaraj, increasingly active in the BJP’s national politics, reached Gayaji on Friday to perform Pind Daan rituals for her late mother, former Union minister Sushma Swaraj. At the Vishnupad temple, she took part in ceremonies lasting over 90 minutes, offering pind at Vishnupad, the Falgu river and the Akshayvat pind vedi.
Bansuri, who appeared emotional during the rituals, told reporters she had come “only for religious work” and would address politics later. Family members and close associates accompanied her.
Her presence in Gayaji, however, sparked political discussion. Sushma Swaraj had long-standing ties with Bihar, and her daughter is now seen as carrying that legacy forward.
On September 13, Bansuri will address the BJP Yuva Morcha’s Yuva Shankhnaad rally in Bodh Gaya, alongside Jamui MLA and former shooter Shreyasi Singh. Party leaders expect over 3,000 youth to attend, framing the event as a launchpad for the BJP’s youth-focused strategy in the run-up to the Bihar elections.
BJP insiders say the symbolism is deliberate: a personal act of shraddha for her mother, paired with an assertive step into Bihar’s political stage. For the party, the twin gestures represent both emotional continuity and political mobilisation.
