Gayaji: Passengers travelling from Gayaji to Delhi and Kolkata now have a cheaper and more comfortable option. The Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) has launched a special bus service for the festive season. This service was flagged off by Regional Manager Ashish Kumar at the government bus stand in Gayaji on Saturday. Under this plan, one bus will run daily between Gayaji and Delhi, and five buses will run between Gayaji and Kolkata.
The biggest benefit of this service is the reduced fares. Normally, an AC sleeper ticket for Delhi costs Rs 2,670, but with the subsidy, passengers will only pay Rs 1,747. The price of a regular seat has also been reduced from Rs 1,793 to Rs 1,158. Passengers going to Kolkata can now travel in AC sleeper buses for Rs 762 instead of Rs 919. An AC seat will cost Rs 505, while a non-AC bus ticket will cost just Rs 456.
This special fare will be available until 30 November, covering the entire festival season. Every year, thousands of people travel home to celebrate Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath, which leads to a huge demand for affordable travel. This scheme will not only reduce travel costs but also give passengers a safer and more comfortable way to reach their destination.
The BSRTC hopes this step will encourage more people to use government bus services instead of overcrowded trains or expensive private transport. The corporation will monitor passenger feedback and may continue such services in the future if the response is good. For now, this initiative is expected to make festival travel much easier for families and workers returning home.
