Patna: The Indian Police Service Wives Association (IPSOWA) held Vriksha Mahotsav 2025 on September 20 at the Bihar Home Guard Training Centre, Bihta, under the leadership of president Madhurima Raj and secretary Sukriti Mishra. The event, aimed at fostering respect for nature and encouraging afforestation, included tree plantation, awareness drives and children’s participation.
Treasurer Nivedita Porika played a key role in organising the event. Around 50 hardy and low-maintenance tree species were provided by principal chief conservator of forests, PK Gupta, who also extended technical support to the campaign.

Members including Sunita Singh, Kumkum, Kavita, Poonam Thakur, Asha Gupta, Nidhi Darad and Shweta Sharma attended the event, which promoted afforestation as a low-cost, long-term investment in sustainability.

Speaking at the close of the programme, Raj underlined the “nurturing role of trees” and said initiatives like these would strengthen traditions of gratitude towards nature while encouraging sustainable living for future generations.
