Patna: Patna Smart City Limited (PSCL) has approved a series of projects aimed at strengthening civic infrastructure, disaster management and public amenities across the city, during its 36th board meeting.

Among the measures cleared was the launch of the Nagar Netra project, which will deploy electric vehicles fitted with artificial intelligence technology to monitor and supervise civic services across neighbourhoods. The project has been approved by Bihar’s Urban Development and Housing Department.

The board also sanctioned the installation of 1,200 additional CCTV cameras at 250 locations across Patna at a cost of Rs 63.09 crore. These will expand the network operated under the Integrated Command and Control Centre, which already oversees more than 3,300 cameras, including red-light violation detectors and automatic number plate recognition systems.

Plans for the development of the JP Ganga Path area were also endorsed. The Rs 11.99 crore scheme includes creating green spaces, recreational facilities and public amenities along the stretch between Gandhi Maidan and LCT Ghat.

In addition, the board approved a proposal for the Civil Defence Casualty and Rescue Service Plan, which aims to improve emergency preparedness and ensure faster response during disasters.

The meeting was chaired by Abhay Kumar Singh, secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department and chairman of PSCL. Also in attendance were Patna municipal commissioner and PSCL managing director, Animesh Kumar Parashar; district magistrate Dr Thiagarajan, who joined online; representatives from the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs; and other senior officials.
