Patna: The Election Commission will publish the final voter list for Bihar’s Assembly elections on September 30, following a special revision of the rolls. The move is aimed at ensuring transparency ahead of the polls, expected to be announced soon.

Under provisions of the Representation of the People Acts of 1950 and 1951, recognized national and state parties will be given free copies of the updated lists. These will be made available at the office of the Chief Electoral Officer as well as at district and constituency levels, in both printed and digital formats such as pen drives, CDs, and PDFs.

The rolls contain details including voters’ names, addresses, ages, genders, and photographs. Other registered political parties and candidates may obtain copies on payment of prescribed fees. Printed lists will be charged at local photocopy rates, while digital versions will carry the cost of the medium.

Officials noted that the final list, once published, will be frozen after the election schedule is announced. Supplementary revisions, if required, can be carried out until ten days before the last date for withdrawal of nominations.

Explaining the process, an official said: “The Commission ensures that recognized political parties receive voter lists free of charge and in a timely manner so that they can prepare at the booth level.”

The publication of the final list marks a crucial step in election preparedness, enabling parties to refine their outreach strategies and candidates to engage directly with the electorate.
