Patna: In a significant administrative move ahead of this year’s assembly elections, the Nitish Kumar-led government has promoted 55 police inspectors to the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). The officers have been given temporary acting charge of DSP (basic cadre) under a provisional arrangement, according to a notification issued on Tuesday by the Home Department (Police).
The promotions cover a wide array of officers, including Ashutosh Kumar, Mohd. Nayyar Ejaz Ahmed, Rajesh Kumar Rai, Lalan Kumar, Kripal Chandra Jaiswal, Rajiv Kumar Lal, Neeraj Kumar Panjiyar, Abdul Gaffar, Jay Shankar Mishra, Sanjay Kumar Singh, Tarkeshwar Nath Tiwari, Sujay Vidyarthi, Manish Kumar, Sanjay Kumar Singh, and Vilas Paswan.
Additional officers promoted include Lal Bihari Paswan, Rajnish Kumar, Rajesh Kumar, Ranjit Kumar Nirala, Devkishore Prasad, Sanjay Kumar, Asif Iqbal Mehdi, Ram Lakhan Pandit, Nirmal Kumar, Aditya Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Mohd. Irshad Alam, Satish Chandra Madhav Prasad Rai, Vinod Peter, Kamleshwar Mishra, Akhilesh Kumar, Prashant Kumar, Vijay Kumar Yadav, Sanjay Kumar Tu, Mohd. Khaliquzzaman, and Mustafa Kamal Kaiser.
The list further includes Sanjay Kumar Jha, Satyendra Prasad Singh, Rajesh Kumar Mandal, Subodh Kumar Singh, Nityanand Chauhan, Jay Prakash Singh, Manju Kumari, Sushil Kumar, Abhay Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Pratap Singh, Nigam Kumar Verma, Satyendra Kumar Mishra, Gopal Prasad, and Mohd. Ali Sabri. In addition, four Assistant Inspectors—Parvezul Bari, Ashok Kumar Prasad, Ashok Kumar Singh, and Ramsevak Tanti—have been promoted to Assistant Superintendent of Police.
The department has redesignated the current positions of all these officers to Deputy Superintendent of Police (basic cadre) until further orders, marking a notable reshuffle in Bihar’s police hierarchy ahead of the polls.
