Patna: The rift between Lalu Prasad Yadav’s sons, Tej Pratap Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav, surfaced once again during Dussehra as Tej Pratap publicly criticised his younger brother, urging him to “maintain decorum” and respect his elder sibling.
Speaking to reporters while travelling from Patna to Mahua, the RJD leader drew on the Ramayana to deliver his message. “Tejashwi should understand the difference between Ram and Lakshman. He should know who is Ram and who is Lakshman,” Tej Pratap said, adding that his younger brother, the leader of the opposition in the Bihar assembly, must “use his own judgment” rather than follow the counsel of others.
“All I would say is that as a younger brother, he should show respect to his elder brother. Perhaps someone like a Jaychand [traitor] is advising him, but he should think for himself,” he remarked.
Tej Pratap also touched on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and the recent “I Love Mohammad” controversy, though he did not elaborate on his brother’s role in these issues.
The comments highlight growing ideological and political differences between the two brothers, once seen as a united front in the Rashtriya Janata Dal.
