Patna: As Bihar gears up for the 2025 Assembly elections, the Congress party has begun shaping its high-octane campaign strategy, with Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Mallikarjun Kharge leading the charge. The announcement of the election schedule by the Election Commission of India has set the stage for a series of mega rallies expected to begin in the coming days.
According to senior Congress officials, Rahul Gandhi is likely to address nine to ten rallies across the state, while Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will participate in five to six major public meetings. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge is also expected to headline three to four rallies as part of the campaign blitz.
Apart from the top leadership, a host of senior Congress figures — including Ashok Gehlot, Sachin Pilot, and Bhupesh Baghel — will join the campaign trail. Their inclusion is aimed at energising the party’s base, strengthening the Grand Alliance’s message, and countering the NDA’s extensive election machinery.
Speaking to reporters, Congress spokesperson Asitnath Tiwari said the final list of star campaigners would be announced shortly. “Preparations are in full swing. The names of the star campaigners will be released within the next few days,” he said, adding that the focus would be on issues like unemployment, inflation, and governance failures under the NDA.
Meanwhile, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Congress’s principal ally in the Grand Alliance, is also stepping up its preparations. Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition and the alliance’s projected Chief Ministerial candidate, will launch his campaign shortly.
RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed said Tejashwi’s rally schedule would be released “within two to four days.” He confirmed that Yadav will campaign not only for RJD candidates but also for those of other Grand Alliance partners.
The CPI (ML), another key constituent of the alliance, has also begun finalising its campaign plan. Party General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya will spearhead the CPI (ML)’s outreach efforts, joined by national-level leaders at joint rallies with Tejashwi and other partners.
With the first phase of voting scheduled for November 6 and the second on November 11, both camps are now racing to mobilise their support bases across Bihar’s 243 constituencies.
