Munger: Former IPS officer Shivdeep Lande, often called the “super cop” of Bihar, has officially entered the political field. On Thursday, he filed his nomination papers as an independent candidate from the Jamalpur Assembly constituency in Munger district. His decision to contest independently has created a wave of excitement among his supporters and local residents, who gathered in large numbers to cheer for him. Lande, who resigned from his police service earlier, said he wants to continue serving people but this time through politics.
Before filing his nomination, Lande took out a road march across Jamalpur city, where hundreds of people joined him. He met residents at several intersections, markets, and public places, greeting them with folded hands. His wife, Dr Mamta, accompanied him throughout the day. A long convoy of vehicles followed him, showing the growing public enthusiasm for his new political journey. The roads were filled with chants in his support, and many young people expressed hope that he would bring change to the area.
As part of his day’s programme, Lande visited several temples before heading to the subdivision office. He offered prayers at the Bajrangbali Temple at Jubilee Well, Shani Dev Temple, Yog Maya Badi Durga Temple, and Jhur Kali Mata Temple at Gauripur Safiasrai. After filing his nomination papers, supporters welcomed him with garlands and slogans, turning the moment into a festive celebration. The entire area around the office was filled with his followers, who hailed him as a leader with honesty and courage.
Speaking to the media, Lande said he shares a deep emotional connection with Munger and has come forward to serve its people selflessly. “The public has seen us working in khaki. Now I have come as a representative to serve the people,” he said. His statement drew loud applause from his supporters. Many local leaders, including Principal Shankar Kumar Singh, Shubham Singh, Md Nurullah, Raju Chaurasia, Ram Simran Paswan, Ramesh Thakur, Anandi Mandal, Jayanti Devi, Gopal Prasad Tanti, Satya Prakash, Dr Pappu, and Laxman Kumar, were also present, showing strong support for his campaign.
