Patna: A dramatic scene unfolded outside Rabri Devi’s residence in Patna late Saturday night when RJD leader Madan Prasad Shah protested against being denied a party ticket from the Madhuban Assembly constituency in East Champaran.
Eyewitnesses said Shah arrived at the former chief minister’s residence around midnight and, in a burst of anger, tore his kurta and lay down on the road, shouting slogans against party insiders. The spectacle drew a small crowd and created late-night chaos outside the residence.
“Asked for Rs. 2 Crore,” Alleges Shah
Speaking to local media, Shah alleged that Rs. 2 crore was demanded from him in exchange for a ticket. He claimed that Lalu Prasad Yadav had personally assured him of a nomination but was later sidelined.
“They took money from others and betrayed me at the last moment,” he said, naming RJD’s Sanjay Yadav in the alleged internal manipulation.
Shah said he waited outside Rabri Awas until 3 a.m. but was asked to leave without meeting senior party leaders.
RJD Fields Dr Santosh Kushwaha Instead
The RJD has nominated Dr Santosh Kushwaha to contest from Madhuban, where BJP’s Rana Randhir Singh is the sitting MLA. Shah, who had contested from the same seat in 2020 and lost by just 2,700 votes, expressed outrage over being dropped this time.
