Patna: RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav unveiled a series of election promises, signalling a fresh push to woo voters ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.
Speaking at a public rally, Yadav said that if the Grand Alliance comes to power, allowances for Panchayat and other village representatives would be doubled. The government would also initiate pensions for former Panchayat and Gram Kachari members, along with providing them with insurance coverage of Rs 50 lakh.
Yadav further pledged enhanced financial support for PDS distributors in the state, including higher margin money per quintal and additional honorariums. He also announced that the 58-year age limit for compassionate appointments would be removed.
For the economic upliftment of working-class communities such as barbers, potters, carpenters, and blacksmiths, Yadav promised a lump sum of Rs 5 lakh over five years to facilitate the purchase of modern tools and promote self-employment.
Addressing the crowd, the RJD leader criticised the current administration, saying, “The people of Bihar gave them 20 years; we are asking for only 20 months. I have full faith that this time there will be change, and the Grand Alliance will work together to build a new Bihar.”
Yadav described the campaign as a “movement for change,” adding that large crowds from all castes and religions had turned out at rallies across the state. “People are fed up with corruption and crime under this government. They have understood the BJP,” he said.
