Patna: With continuous rain battering the city since Thursday night, the Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) has gone into full alert mode. Acting on the instructions of Municipal Commissioner Yashpal Meena, all 19 Quick Response Teams (QRTs), along with zonal and ward officials, sanitary inspectors, and executive officers, have been stationed across the city to monitor the situation closely.
The primary objective of the civic body during the rainfall is to ensure that no area of the city faces prolonged waterlogging, and wherever water accumulates, it is drained out swiftly.
Smart Monitoring for Drainage Efficiency
Under the “Automation of Drainage Pumping Stations” initiative by Patna Smart City Limited, real-time monitoring is being conducted at nine key pumping stations—including Saidpur, Yogipur (2), Eco Park (3), and Pahari (2).
This advanced digital system allows continuous tracking of pump operation, electricity supply, and drainage flow, enabling immediate technical intervention whenever required. The PMC control room is also maintaining constant communication with on-ground teams through walkie-talkies, ensuring uninterrupted coordination.
Full Civic Response Activated
Commissioner Yashpal Meena has instructed all zonal officers to remain alert in view of possible rainfall over the coming days. They have been directed to inspect all drainage pumping stations and review emergency resources. Executive officers have also been tasked with maintaining continuous field monitoring to ensure that any civic issue is resolved promptly.
Public Appeal
The Patna Municipal Corporation has urged residents to report any drainage or civic issue directly via the helpline number 155304. Officials emphasized that PMC teams are operational 24×7, ready to assist citizens during the rain.
