Patna: Tensions continue to grip Mokama as political violence overshadows the Bihar Assembly elections. In a sharp statement on Friday, RJD leader Surajbhan Singh broke his silence over the murder of Dularchand Yadav, calling it “a dark day for democracy.”
Surajbhan said, “This is not just an incident affecting one constituency — the entire nation has seen how democracy has been violated. The biggest embarrassment today is for the Election Commission itself.”
Posted by Surajbhan Singh on Thursday, October 30, 2025
The strongman leader demanded that the Election Commission immediately initiate a judicial inquiry into the killing. “I urge the Election Commission to set up an inquiry monitored by a retired judge. The truth will then emerge. People’s faith in the Commission is eroding, and swift action is needed,” he added.
When asked about JDU candidate Anant Singh, who has been accused by Dularchand’s family of involvement in the murder, Surajbhan brushed it off, saying, “Let them say what they want. I won’t comment.”
The incident occurred earlier this week when clashes broke out between supporters of the Jan Suraj Party and the JDU during election campaigning in Mokama. Stones were pelted, vehicles were vandalised, and later, Dularchand Yadav — a well-known RJD leader — was found dead inside a damaged car.
