Patna: As the clock ticked down on the first phase of campaigning, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) chief Lalu Prasad hit the streets of Phulwarisharif on Tuesday, leading a massive roadshow to drum up support for the Grand Alliance candidate.
The JD (U)’s Shyam Rajak, contesting from the same constituency, was once a close aide of Lalu, adding a personal dimension to the political face-off. Lalu’s convoy began from Khoja Imli and passed through Tamtam Padav, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Chowk, Isapur, Nohsa, AIIMS Mod Chowk, BNP 16, and Rashtriya Ganj, drawing large crowds and chants of support along the way.
On Monday, Lalu had held a similar roadshow in Danapur, where the BJP has fielded Ramkripal Yadav, another former loyalist of Lalu’s. Both events underscored the RJD leader’s determination to reclaim his party’s lost ground by appealing directly to voters, while facing off against two of his past associates now representing rival alliances.
With the first phase of voting scheduled for November 6, Tuesday’s roadshow marked the RJD chief’s final push to rally supporters and energise the party’s base in key constituencies around Patna.
