Gayaji: In an important step to strengthen leadership and management in the police force, the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bodh Gaya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Bihar Police Academy (BPA), Rajgir. The agreement was signed on November 3, 2025, by IIM Bodh Gaya Director Dr Vinita S. Sahay and Shri Sushil Kumar, Nodal Officer of the Bihar Police Academy, in the presence of senior officers and faculty members from both institutions.
Through this collaboration, IIM Bodh Gaya will act as the Leadership and Management Development Partner for the Bihar Police Academy. The institute will help train police officers in leadership, communication, decision-making, and other management skills. The aim is to improve their confidence, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities so that they can serve citizens more effectively and handle complex challenges in public administration.
Speaking about the partnership, Dr Vinita S. Sahay said, “This MoU is an important step towards bringing management principles into public service. Modern policing requires not only operational strength but also leadership rooted in ethics, empathy, and strategic thinking.” She added that IIM Bodh Gaya is committed to nation-building through educational collaborations that strengthen public institutions.
Bihar Police Academy’s Nodal Officer, Shri Sushil Kumar, said that such structured management training is essential for preparing officers to meet modern-day challenges. He mentioned that the Academy’s goal of becoming a Centre of Excellence in public service training aligns closely with IIM Bodh Gaya’s expertise in management education. With this partnership, police training will now include more structured lessons in leadership and administration.
The MoU also covers several other areas of cooperation such as joint research, consultancy, and faculty exchange programmes. IIM Bodh Gaya will offer both classroom and online training sessions on topics like leadership development, stress management, and project management. The content and structure of the courses will be designed jointly by the two institutions to meet the specific needs of Bihar Police officers.
Both IIM Bodh Gaya and the Bihar Police Academy see this as a long-term partnership that will create stronger and more capable leaders in the police force. Together, they hope to build a sustainable framework for continuous learning and development, ensuring that Bihar’s police officers are equipped with the right knowledge and values to serve the public with integrity and efficiency.
