Patna: With just two days left for the Bihar Assembly election results to be announced, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Patna’s famous Mahavir Temple early Thursday morning and offered prayers for peace and prosperity in the state. He later visited the Mazar near the Patna High Court, seeking blessings as the political temperature rises ahead of the November 14 vote count. Nitish also offered prayers at Takht Shri Hardmandir Sahib Gurudwara in Patna City.
The temple visit comes amid heightened anticipation over who will form the next government in Bihar. The battle remains a direct contest between the ruling NDA, led by Nitish Kumar, and the Grand Alliance, led by Tejashwi Prasad Yadav of the RJD.
The elections were conducted in two phases, with voting on November 6 for 121 seats and on November 11 for 122 seats, completing polling across all 243 constituencies. The first phase witnessed a record 65% turnout, while the second phase saw voter participation rise further to over 70%, with women reportedly outnumbering men at several polling stations.
As counting day nears, exit polls released by multiple agencies have largely predicted an NDA victory, with several surveys projecting Nitish Kumar’s return to power. However, the Grand Alliance has dismissed these predictions, asserting that “change is inevitable” this time.
Nitish’s temple visit, viewed as both a spiritual gesture and a political signal, comes as leaders from both camps project confidence. While the NDA banks on continuity and development, the Grand Alliance has campaigned on promises of employment and governance change.
All eyes are now set on November 14, when the Election Commission will begin counting votes and the final verdict will decide Bihar’s political future.
